After I painted this image with alcohol inks, it reminded me of a stream and looking through the vines and branches overhanging it. When I started to do the free-motion stitching, I saw people and faces starting to appear. I also included bugs and animals beneficial to streams. I live in Georgia and on my way to Atlanta there are signs for Drowning Creek. I always found that name eerie. Sadly, weeks after I finished this art quilt, the news came out about a pile of bodies that were found in Drowning Creek after a big storm subsided.
Method: Alcohol ink on a synthetic paper substrate then had it enlarged and digitally custom printed on Organic Cotton Sateen. Whole cloth using wool batting and free motion stitching.
One of my dear memories from when our kids were little is when we would take them for a walk by a stream. I would lean against a tree, listening to the kids gleefully playing with the water. It was my favorite way to relax… my peaceful retreat.

After I painted this image with alcohol inks, it reminded me of a stream and looking through the vines and branches overhanging it. When I started to do the free-motion stitching, I saw people and faces starting to appear. I also included bugs and animals beneficial to streams. I live in Georgia and on my way to Atlanta there are signs for Drowning Creek. I always found that name eerie. Sadly, weeks after I finished this art quilt, the news came out about a pile of bodies that were found in Drowning Creek after a big storm subsided.
